Summary:

We Are Visible (Too) is an ongoing mini-film series portraying people with EDS all across the globe. In this mini-documentary series, we will continue on the We Are Visible – a feature-length film about people with EDS – journey and add a variety of 5 – 10 minute videos of other people across the country that live with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome to the channel.

I asked them about their EDS journey, what their main challenges are, how they cope, and what they wish other people understood about EDS. I produced all the short videos in this series for Chronic Pain Partners/EDS Awareness.

About Chronic Pain Partners:

Chronic Pain Partners, a US-based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, was created in 2011 to support people with Ehlers-Danlos syndromes.

www.EDSawareness.com is an online resource for the Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome community, their caregivers, medical professionals, and everyone who is interested in learning more about the genetic connective tissue disorder.

They help create independent, local EDS Support groups, host live webinars to help educate their members, caregivers and health care providers, and launched a CME program for physicians and another one for nurses.

The mission of EDS Awareness is to ensure a greater understanding of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome by patients, the general public and within the medical community – in order to improve the quality of life for those affected by EDS – and those who care for them.

Now, the organization is expanding their scope to produce original film content made by and for the greater community. With Chronic Pain Partners Production, they are supporting emerging journalists and filmmakers who take on the important task of representing the chronic illness and disability communities across the globe.

Their first film published on their channel, We Are Visible, is a feature-length film about individuals with the Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, but now they want to go beyond this community. Future films on their site will feature people all around the globe who live with varying illnesses – physical or mental health conditions – and disabilities – visible and invisible.

Those documentary films will embrace “Nothing about us without us” and will all be produced by disabled filmmakers to ensure an accurate depiction of disability on screen!
